The Australian Amateur Band Plan – 70cm

The 70cm band is accessible to all licence classes

  • Transmission bandwidth is not limited
  • Foundation operators are limited in power output to 10 Watts pX
  • Standard operators using emission modes J3E or R3E are limited to 100 watts pX
  • Standard operators using other modes are limited to 30 watts pY
  • Advanced operators using emission modes J3E or R3E are limited to 400 watts pX
  • Advanced operators using other modes are limited to 120 watts pY
  • 430.000 – 450.000 MHz is a Secondary Amateur Allocation
  • 430.025 to 430.975 MHz is reserved for repeater links
  • 431.025 to 431.9375 MHz is reserved for FM repeater Inputs
  • 432.000 to 432.100 MHz is available for Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) operation
  • 432.100 to 432.340 MHz is available for CW/SSB operation
  • 432.400 to 432.6 MHz is reserved for Beacons
  • 432.625 to 432.975 MHz are legacy repeater inputs with a 5.4 MHz offset
  • 433.025 to 434.775 MHz is available for all modes
  • (433.050 to 434.790 MHz is reserved for non-amateur, low interference devices.)
  • 435.000 to 438.000 MHz is reserved for Satellite operation
  • 438.025 to 438.9375 MHz is reserved for FM repeater Outputs (7 MHz offset)
  • 438.950 to 439.775 MHz is reserved for FM simplex operation
  • 439.275 to 439.775 MHz is reserved for FM repeater Outputs (5 MHz offset)
  • 441.000 to 441.975 MHz is available for all transmission modes
  • 442.000 to 449.000 MHz is reserved for Amateur Television
  • 449.025 to 449.975 MHz is reserved for repeater links

Repeater Notes

  • Standard repeater offsets for 70cm is +/- 5 MHz (legacy) or 7 MHz (contemporary)
  • 91.5 Hz for CTCSS is the common repeater access tone
  • 141.3 or 146.2 Hz for CTCSS access to link other repeaters.

Additional Notes

  • FM simplex use 25 KHz channel spacing.
  • Digital voice Simplex modes (D-Star etc.) use 12.5 KHz channel spacing
  • Avoid terrestrial operation in the EME segment
